PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is very important to us. In fact, it is so important that we would like to spend a part of our web page discussing some of the more important aspects of our Privacy Policy.

HIPPA

First of all, you have certain privacy rights that are guaranteed through federal and state Health Care Privacy Practices. These rights are generally known as HIPPA rights. We adhere to all state and federal guidelines in regards to your Healthcare information. Each therapist or program will have their individual HIPPA statements which will be given to you at your intake.

As required by “HIPAA”, we have prepared this explanation of how we are required to maintain the privacy of your health information and how we may use and disclose your health information. We may use and disclose your medical records only for each of the following purposes: treatment, payment and health care operations.

Treatment means providing, coordinating, or managing health care and related services by one or more health care providers. An example of this would include a physical examination.

Payment means such activities as obtaining reimbursement for services, confirming coverage, billing or collection activities, and utilization review. An example of this would be sending a bill for your visit to your insurance company for payment.

Health care operations include the business aspects of running our practice, such as conducting quality assessment and improvement activities, auditing functions, cost-management analysis, and customer service. An example would be an internal quality assessment review.

We may contact you to provide appointment reminders. It is your responsibility to tell us any limitations in regards to how we contact you. (i.e.: only use cell phone, do not call office, do not leave messages, etc,)

GENERAL PRIVACY POLICY

We do not sell, lease or otherwise release personal information regarding our clients or anyone who accesses this website or contacts us through email, telephone or other means for compensation or for any other purpose except as required by law.

EMAIL AND MOBILE PHONE USE

It is important to know that emails and mobile phone conversations are not secure or guaranteed of privacy because they can be potentially intercepted. Therefore it is important that you understand that if we have correspondence by email or mobile phone, there is a potential for confidentiality to be compromised.

LIMITS OF CONFIDENTALITY/PRIVACY

There are limits to confidentiality as set forth in state and federal guidelines or program participation. Your therapist will explain these limitations to you at intake.

PRIVACY AND INSURANCE

If you would like to use healthcare insurance to pay for clinical services, please be aware that you must authorize your insurance provider to receive some of your private health information including psychiatric diagnoses.

We cannot be held responsible for how your insurance provider uses that information.

Increasingly, people who are concerned about loss of privacy or identity theft are opting to pay out-of-pocket so that they rather than insurance companies own their personal information.
